Whether Donald Trump speaks or not, the fires will not go away. It is very bad environmental practices in California that MAKE the fires so devastating.
1. Do not build in fire-prone areas.
2. Keep the understory growth cut out of the various stretches of wooded lands, and assure that no building goes on in areas where the terrain is too steep or too fragile for construction.
3. Pare back some of your silly rules on the California Air Resources Board agenda, and apply them only in instances where REAL environmental damage is happening.
4. Depoppulate the coastal areas, or set up effective water desalination plants to provide the water supply, rather than depending on stealing water from other areas of the state, leaving more water to be available for agricultural production and, well, fire-fighting.
5. Start producing your own domestic sources of electric power, rather than stealing it all from surrounding states. And not just by solar or wind, but with Thorium-fueled Molten Salt plants, which also incidentally could be put to use in massive desalination of water.
There are so many ways to allow California to live up to its potential, which is now tamped down to the level of some Third-World countries.
I am reading different figures about how many of these acres that burned were managed by the feds and not the state. The President may be misdirecting some of his ire here.
The fires have been going on there for decades... it doesn’t have anything to do with the WH
