Here’s hoping that now that intern has been through this once, she won’t be so shy next time. A well placed kick between Accosta’s knees could have resolved the issue quickly. That would be my advice to my daughter if either one went into a similar role.

I am all for equal opportunity regardless of sex, but at this point I think the job of passing the microphone around should go to someone with a different set of skills and training than the typical intern. I would suggest that the microphone handler be about 6 feet tall, weigh about 250 pounds, and have experience as a Marine, Secret Service, or some special forces group member. They should also be a federal law enforcement officer so that assaulting them, or obstructing them, is a felony. And they should have the kind of grip that would allow them to take the microphone away from a polar bear if they wanted to.

That should solve the problem.
