I suspect that most theologians understand that individuals experience many doubts.
Not necessarily doubts about Christ and redemption, but doubts about themselves being worthy.
I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior.

The result will be to “work out” (bring forward the divine work of) one’s salvation with “fear and trembling.” One’s call will repeatedly appear to be beyond one’s resources. One will stagger at the imbalance. Then grace will appear and move the mountain with power.
When God acted in the bible, the sinful reaction of His people was often to become blase’. That is why it was necessary, when God executed the plan of His heart, to cause grace to superabound when sin abounded.
Thanks for the reference to the “The Way I Am” song. It sounds like Paul’s story.
