I have had several surgeries over the decades. Not one location feels as good as it did before the surgery. Each surgery was necessary; two hernias and about five foot surgeries. Although the surgeries “solved” the problems, they still hurt or swell or are numb. It is far better to not have any surgery unless you absolutely have to. If the original equipment works, keep it unchanged.
It has taken doctors many decades to realize this. Just 20-30 years ago exploratory surgery was common for any chronic complaint. CTs and MRIs have mainly fixed this problem, the other problem was doctors doing surgery on conditions like hernias that could be closely monitored.
