If he really was “about to” then that’s some major incompetance on the part of the “law enforcement” involved. An informant in his position should never be left hanging in as state of ‘about too’.
Who instigated this transfer to a prison where other murders had occurred, and instantly saw to it that he was put in the general population?

Bulger and Mueller were as thick as thieves (perhaps actual thieves) for a long time. I expect each one of them had “goods” on the other. This isn’t pretty.

it’s really easy to see how Whitey’ Bulger, 89, who was in hiding for 20 years and then in Federal prison for several years would have high-level contacts reaching all the way to the top of the FBI ... on the other hand, maybe it’s just that FR is turning into a garbage pit of stupid and ridiculous conspiracy theories ...

It’s not that he wasn’t mafia, and had many people who wanted to get him, but, he also had a connection to the rogue wing of the FBI, then turns up dead? Weird. Reminiscent of all the “suicides” that occur with people who had involvement with, or were investigating, the Clintons.
Mueller better hope there isn’t a signed affidavit by Bulger being held in a safety deposit box, that spills the beans on him, and the agents who worked under him.
