From one of my friends he did his own fake pipe bomb investigation. Here’s what happened.
“For those of you that have seen the photos ... understand one thing. Any plumber (which I am) can duplicate the structure of that “pipe-bomb” and anybody that has ever mailed a package thru the USPS can duplicate that 4 3/4 “ x 7 1/4” bubble mailer with 6 flag stamps (6 x 50 cents = $3.00) Since I ship between 100 and 200 packages a week, I know the Post Office personnel very well .. so, this afternoon, I devised an experiment. I went into my shop and dug out a 3/4” pipe nipple and end caps, filled the pipe with salt and pieces of road salt (imitating glass), capped both ends added duct tape and a small piece of wire ... and I attached 6 50 cent stamps to a bubble mailer, stuck the “imitation pipe bomb” in the envelope and sealed it. Then I went to the Post Office. I told the 2 women that work there what I was up to as they looked at me with eyes wide open and mouths agape. They put the package on the postal scale and it weighed ....... 19 ounces. USPS regulations mandate that postage stamps cannot be used to mail a bubble mailer, of that size, if the weight is more than ....... 13 OUNCES. When I asked them what would happen if such a package was retrieved from an outdoor Mail Box, like the ones in front of every USPS location ... they told me that such a package would NEVER make it through the processes that are used to move mail. Such a package would be put aside and marked “Return to Sender” or called out for further investigation. If 10 or 12 of these packages were dumped in a single Mail Box, they all would have been pulled and investigated. I guess what I am trying to say, and the point I am trying to get across, is this ........... THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL, that those “pipe-bomb” packages were EVER mailed and delivered by the USPS. I does not work that way and the whole story is a lie .... from beginning to end ... including the poor sap that they allegedly arrested for committing this “crime”. Open your eyes PEOPLE .. the whole thing is a lie and they expect You all to believe it. Sad ... just Sad.”
