I could see this turning into a disaster for Coca Cola Inc.
Were I another franchisee receiving plastic bags, I might consider a switch to stainless steel cannister storage upon delivery. If it could be done conveniently.
I was a Pizza Hut cook in the early 80s, and we used steel tanks, too. Of course, we carried Pepsi products.
I worked in fast food in 1983-84 (Not McDonalds) and I recall us using the stainless steel tanks for the fountain drinks. I guess over the years restaurants got away from those tanks to increase profit margin.
You know, if McDonald’s would cut their menu in half, bring back the heat lamps, the fries cooked in beef tallow and cottonseed oil, and stop being politically correct, they would be having record sales. Ever since they pandered to the Left and got rid of what worked, I’ve stopped eating there.
Employees spit in it?
Great systems are fine, but you need reasonable competent people to keep them running.
Why can’t I find a McDonalds that serves Root Beer?
Time to Google it.
Sorry that you’re disappointed, and, as a diner, I agree with many of your criticisms, but as a MCD shareholder, I’ve gotta say... they’re doing something right at least for investors. I think the stock has averaged about 15% total return over the past 10 years, and has consistently outperformed the market. The so-called Oracle of Omaha Warren Buffett dumped the stock a couple decades ago, and it has since outperformed his Berkshire Hathaway.
Root beer? Man!!! On the way home I’m going to get me some stuff for a root beer float! That’s the ticket!
How long has it been since I enjoyed an A&W draft root beer? About 40 years...
I know. If they put this much care into the Coke, why not do the same for the fries and the burgers?
At A&W we made the root beer on premises in a stainless steel container.
Try one at in-n-out burger. They gotta be doing something with their cokes as well.
I like how they have streamlined the way their stores looked, instead of the traditional house-looking McDonald's. And they have added two-lane drive-thrus.
But sooner or later the fast-casual restaurants are going to do them in. Plus you got the prepared meal services like Hello Fresh and Blue Apron.
If McDonald's got rid of half their menu (Hell, maybe two-thirds of it) and went back to basics they would be crushing everybody. I grew up in the 80s and eating at McDonald's then was like eating in a 5-star restaurant in NYC and I remember all the other kids jealous because they didn't get McDonald's. The food was THAT good. Especially the fries.
Everyone under the age of about 40 knows only what their fries taste like now. If they changed them, all those millions would have a fit. McDonald’s (and most big corporations), don’t give a hoot what we elders want. Except for incontinence products, hemorrhoid cream, and walk in bathtubs, all the advertising dollars (and desires) are focused on young people, even though we older folks spend a LOT of money. I can either stay mad at that, all the time, or I can feel delighted to know that all those millennials, etc., will wake up old, some day, and know just how it feels. Advertisers used to cater to adults, except for toys and cereal. Ah, the good old days.
Well I do go there for the Egg McMuffins. Apparently that is one item where they went back to the old way with the biggest change being that they stopped using liquid margarine and went back to real butter.
Their coffee’s good too... probably similar quality controls... but their fries still suck.
Evidently, they dont need our business. (I stopped working on the roadit cut down my fast food intake.). Mickey Ds has been enjoying a renaissance of sorts.
