What does it matter whether you call life-saving interventions partial victory or mitigated failure? The fact is, the zone of protectable life for all categories can expand or shrink according to our political decisions. Even partial advances in securing human rights, result in somebody living who would otherwise have been poisoned, crushed or decapitated.
Perhaps we'll never do better, on this earth, than "Mourn the dead; fight like hell for the living." But we have a duty to do as well as we can.
What does it matter whether you call life-saving interventions partial victory or mitigated failure? It matters because it gives the illusion of accomplishment while doing nothing to advance the legally binding rights of babies, or fathers.
All it legally accomplishes is a detente between pro life and pro choice.
