At a park where I play softball, there are black and brown squirrels everywhere. Last Friday I was in the outfield and there were two on our field, three beyond the outfield fence and four more on the diamond next to ours.......

No predators except hawks.....Lots of pine trees so they have a good food source from the cones.

I get a kick out of the smaller red squirrels who are constantly chasing the bigger ones out of their territory.
