In fact misandry, the hatred of men, is so seldom used in our culture that it’s flagged by FR’s spell checker.

I complained about exactly that in an FR post I made on October 6, 2006 in a thread titled "The death of manliness."

As I said in that post, "Americans just seem unable to squarely confront misandry, though it is a common form of bigotry. When the subject is raised, discussion ends. I don't understand why."

I, like you husband, really like THE BEST MAN; though I can't stand Fonda's character and have NEVER seen him as a "good" man and that was long before I knew that Vidal had sort of molded the character on Stevenson. And once I learned that Robertson's character was supposed to be Nixon, I was infuriated by that! Still and all, I DO think that the film is pretty close representation of D.C./political life back then and probably before and after the early '60s.

Dr. STRANGELOVE is a hoot of a parody/sendup/ black comedy! It skewers so many different, very recognizable people/groups of that time and really doesn't belong on the brief list I posted.

And then there were the Broadway musicals and one straight play...OF THEE I SING, MR. PRESIDENT, I'D RATHER BE RIGHT, and SUNRISE AT CAMPOBELLO...all silly tosh and re the last one, fictionalized history.

ADVISE AND CONSENT had a spectacular cast, great writing, great acting, just 100% great all around!

Oh my...I'm a HUGE fan of Walter Pigeon; everything he ever was is, is a gem; including his turn on Broadway in TAKE ME ALONG! :-)

Just saw him last night in Mrs. Miniver. A very nice movie. It is Greer Garson week on Filmstruck. Anything he does is wonderful, including a smallish part in Funny Girl as Florenz Ziegfeld.

Democrats need some group to stir up the mob against in order to get votes. White male Christians happen to be the group that political correctness says is OK to target, so that is who they go after. It’s completely irrelevant that many of those Democrats are white themselves, or male, or claim to be Christian. Stirring up the mob against an imagined enemy is their primary goal.

Yes, and YES; I've NEVER seen him turn in a bad performance and love everything he's been in!

He and Greer Garson mad quite a few movies together. MRS. PARKINGTON ( though she has the larger role in it ) is also one of my favorites.

Have you ever seen IF WINTER COMES? It's a fantastic movie; brilliant...as the Brits say. :-)

And yes, though teensy part, I did like him in FUNNY GIRL, the movie.

I can assure you, most Filipina women are not any more compliant and submissive than any others. By and large, they are opinionated and hard headed (tigas ulo) and will surely let you know what they think.
Some of them put out, but since they are mostly catholic, and conservative, I would say most do not. My niece has an Australian boyfriend. I told her not to put out. Most speak English, some good, others not so good.

We should have never elevated woman soap opera, emotional, sex b.s. to the federal level. This is where life & death issues of national defense, peace between the states & monetary stability are at stake!

While that may be true, truth is in short supply these days among hysterical women looking for attention (and money). A man may not have even met the woman who is accusing him of assault and yet the courts will let her make her charge regardless of whether there is evidence or not. Think of the Duke case. It’s wise to behave as Pence does to protect his reputation and his marriage but that may not be enough these days. I will be grateful when the Salem witch hunt runs its course.

Scary and difficult time for legal law abiding male gun owners in US

In Pennsylvania, legislation in progress requires that if a Protection from Abuse (PFA) order is issued on you and you don’t turn in ALL your firearms, other weapons ‘and’ ammunition within 24 hours you will go directly to jail for 6 months (HB 2060) - are you really going to date anyone if you're a gun owner? Or, would a lefty make up something false to obtain a PFA and SWAT you?

Only Ford and Kavanaugh (and perhaps Mark Judge) know if the alleged events at the party really happened. Even if Kavanaugh "tried to disrobe" Ford (her words), that is not, by itself, attempted rape. Had any of Ford's clothes been removed, or had Kavanaugh removed his own clothes, Ford certainly would have mentioned it. If Ford's description covers the important things that happened, then both Ford and Kavanaugh were fully clothed before, during, and after the encounter. The charge of attempted rape is not just unsupported, it is laughable. Since Ford does not mention any intentional sexual touching (breasts, crotch), their encounter sounds more like incompetent teenage groping.

President Donald Trump has told reporters that it is a "difficult" and "scary" time for young men in the US.

He is right. Young men now know that women can falsely accuse them of a crime, decades after the event supposedly occurred, without supporting evidence, and that Democrats will believe the accusations. Not one Democrat in America besides Ford knows if she is telling the truth, but to Democrats, Ford's word counts, Kavanaugh's word does not. This is monstrously unfair. Young men SHOULD be frightened. For their own self-preservation, after they start voting, they should never vote for Democrats.
