NBC News accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of perjury in a Monday article before editing the piece with additional context that disproved their own claim.
NBC reported Monday evening that Kavanaugh was seeking out friends to refute the claims of his second accuser, Deborah Ramirez, before her allegations were published in The New Yorker on Sept. 23.
The report suggested that Kavanaugh was lying under oath when he said the first time he heard about Ramirezs allegation was in The New Yorker.
The texts show Kavanaugh may need to be questioned about how far back he anticipated that Ramirez would air allegations against him, NBC said. Kavanaugh told the Senate Judiciary Committee under oath that the first time he heard of Ramirezs allegation was in the Sept. 23 article in The New Yorker.
Kavanaugh explained in his testimony, however, that he heard Ramirez might accuse him of something because she was calling around to get her story straight. But he did not know the specific details of Ramirezs allegation until it was published in The New Yorker.
They couldnt the New York Times couldnt corroborate this story and found that she was calling around to classmates trying to see if they remembered it. And I, at least and I, myself, heard about that that she was doing that, Kavanaugh told the Senate Judiciary Committee.
He added that he had not heard about the incident matching the description given by Ms. Ramirez before The New Yorker article.
What NBC omits? Ramirez had been calling mutual friends for weeks looking for dirt on him. Thats how we know that she had admitted she wasnt even sure it was Kavanaugh.

The original version of NBCs article did not include Kavanaughs testimony that he heard Ramirez was calling around. In fact, they updated the article with the relevant testimony on Tuesday morning with no accompanying editors note.
NBC added the following paragraph to the article:
In now-public transcripts from an interview with Republican Judiciary Committee staff on September 25, two days after the Ramirez allegations were reported in the New Yorker, Kavanaugh claimed that it was Ramirez who was calling around to classmates trying to see if they remembered it, adding that it strikes me as, you know, what is going on here? When someone is calling around to try to refresh other people? Is that whats going on? Whats going on with that? That doesnt sound that doesnt sound good to me. It doesnt sound fair. It doesnt sound proper. It sounds like an orchestrated hit to take me out.'
The NBC story accusing Kavanaugh of perjury has been updatedwithout any note, or acknowledgement of that factand now includes a reference to the full September 25th testimony that flatly contradicts the claim being made. And yet NBC is still pushing it. pic.twitter.com/6Xt6ifH9m2

Oh yes, this paragon of journalistic honesty and integrity as demonstrated by exploding pickup trucks (1994) and edited 911 phone calls (Trayvon Martin).
When is this national nightmare going to end? I suspect never. This morning we hear of a truck plowing into protestors but the story has been buried. Was the motive Kav? Has the DOTR already begun?
basically the same as leaving leylands non corroboration out of the first story wapo published
Instead of spiking stories that can't be corroborated, they now run the story and treat the lack of corroboration as just another "fact" about the story.
Instead of spiking stories containing false accusations, they now run the accusation and include the accused's alibi as just another "fact" about the accusation.

I think Flake heard about this fake news, and was believing that Kavanaugh had perjured himself, hence his statement about rejecting him if he perjured himself. It was going to be his excuse. Now he’ll come up with another excuse.
schumer spoke about it today on the floor acting as if it were true ROFLMAO
fake news
Q: "When did you first hear about this?"
Kavanaugh: "I think it was Wednesday."
The Left: "Wrong! A lie! It was Tuesday! Disbar him! Arrest him! Ten years in jail!"
Meanwhile, on the other side of the isle:
Q: "When did this happen?"
Ford: "I think the mid 80s, when I was in my late teens. Or maybe the early 80s when I was in my mid teens. I think it was 1982 and I was 15."
Q: "Where did this happen?"
Ford: "I think in a house, somewhere. Upstairs, it was definitely upstairs."
Q: "How did you get there? How did you get home?"
Ford: "I don't remember. Maybe someone gave me a ride?"
Good memory. Yup. NBC: First in Fake News.
(With appologies to CNN. They are too small to mention anymore.)
Exactly... just what Giuliani meant when he said Truth Isnt Truth.
You should see how journalists are selected by staff members in universities. The more normal, healthy ones have been weeded out for a couple of generations.
What NBC omits? Ramirez had been calling mutual friends for weeks looking for dirt on him. Thats how we know that she had admitted she wasnt even sure it was Kavanaugh... The original version of NBCs article did not include Kavanaughs testimony that he heard Ramirez was calling around.
