Exactly. This is a story about a couple of neighbors trying to help out another neighbor by capturing their runaway dog. Unfortunately it didn't end well - maybe the dog owners fault for how he/she raised/trained the dog, maybe the good neighbors' fault for how they approached it, maybe just fate...
The main thing it illustrates to me is that being armed gives you options and tools to help when a "normal" situation turns serious.
