I believe the song is about Scott’s wife who he still loved but the marriage fell apart due to his drug use.

Years ago, I saw STP live, on tour with Fishbone and the Chili Peppers.

They blew everyone off the stage. Which isn't easy to do with Fishbone. The Peppers? I was less than impressed with.
