” ... the San Francisco of Texas ... “ is a bit harsh if you mean that Austin is a mirror of San Fransicko, druggies and all. Politically, yes ... Austin is packed with Greenies, tree-huggers, Gaea worshipers, aging hippies, leftists, etc.
Had to go to a meeting in Austin a few months ago at the federal building. I was totally amused to see that even the young girls looked like they were hippies ... plain faces, scraggly long-ish hair, long dresses covering what looked like Army boots. Not a short skirt or set of heels anywhere. It was like time had stopped.
