Major Hochstetter played by Howard Caine was my favorite. The best episode IMHO was the Nimrod episode, when Hochstetter gets duped into thinking Colonel Klink is a British agent.

He was the hardcore, Nazi SS guy. And he was treated as a bad guy on the show. They were sophisticated enough to know the difference between Nazis & German soldiers. That is lost on today's SJWs.

My favorite is when Hochstetter was tricked into thinking the war was over and allowed prisoners to go free by letting them borrow his own car.

Caine played an inept lawyer in the first version of Helter Skelter.
Gene Reynolds directed episodes and would go on to produce MASH.
Series did not air on German TV until 1992.

It was a blend of spy comedy, military service comedy etc

Hochstedder was very funny as the over zealous gestapo man.
