DUDE, dedicated people fixed the problem before it could cause a problem.
I remember back then Ollie North had a radio show and was calling Y2K a scam. I called him to explain the real problem with the mainframes and he hung up on me.
I lost some respect for him that day because he pontificated about a subject he knew very little about that I was an expert in.
DUDE, no serious problems would have occurred if they left the whole thing blow over except that some sort orders would be not correct. That would make for some very large or very small billings, which nobody would believe in the first place. No control system would have noticed.
Problems, yes. Catastrophes, no.
