Yes, you have a right to die. You are beyond human punishment at that point so how could anyone say otherwise? What you don’t have a right to is the perversion of medicine and medical personnel who would participate in your death.
Without laws like this, it would be illegal to stop someone who is attempting to kill himself in most circumstances.
Imagine a world where police officers, EMTs, and even just ordinary "Good Samaritans" would face civil lawsuits for daring to interfere with a person's "right to die."
But why all of a sudden are some trying to force this change?
We’ve had an established ethic on this matter for centuries. It’s not like we have new information.
Why change it now?
You are 100% correct about this.
The right to do something that is against nature? The right to stop an unjust aggressor with deadly force does not apply to the self - no one is an unjust aggressor against himself.
So, NO.
Because the State (medicare) wants to be able to decide to deny you life-saving treatment when they deem you worthless.
Then there really can't be something called suicide, can there?
Think of a kindergarten classroom. They’re doing a fingerpainting project.
Which kid has the right to ball up and throw away a given fingerpainting before starting a new one? The artist, and none else.
“Im not sure that I want to suffer for years to strengthen the character of a helping society which is really just bankruptcy for my family and then being handed over to the tender mercies of Medicaid.”

Exactly. If I choose to die, it is because I love my family. I have many health issues now at 71, and have already started divesting my assets to family. The problem is, judges can look at divestment over your last 10 years, and allow creditors to lay claim to them if they feel you are divesting to avoid medical creditors.
I lost 2 toes three years ago, and now I am rapidly losing eyesight because of clotting retinal tissue.
I will probably be blind in 2 years in at least one eye.
I can’t even fathom putting the burden on my family to take care of me in that way.
I have never feared death, but what I fear most is my family sacrificing THEIR lives to give me a couple years more of someone wiping my ass and leading me around up and down stairs.
I still work, and maybe will finish out this year, but I’ll be damned if I become a burden on my family and friends. They don’t deserve that.
IMO there's no doubt something was driving her to think only of herself. But those left behind can use anger to shield against really seeing why she made the decision she did.
No matter what,
I will die, and so will you
It not so much a right, as a certainty
It is all too easy to accelerate the process
Looked at it that way, no, there isn’t.
But I think God allows alot of things to happen that He would not cause to happen.
However He certainly has the power to halt a death.
The nurse gave me my diagnosis.
“Do you want treatment?” she asked.
“I was under the impression that I would die without it,” I replied.
“That’s correct.”
My wife started screaming, “Of COURSE he wants treatment!!”
“I have to hear it from him,” she said without emotion.
To be asked whether I wanted to live or die was a little stunning.
In retrospect, I’m grateful that I’m Catholic. And I’m grateful my wife is, too. The answer was easy, without hesitation.
Although I have been a burden, especially to her, for these three years, she has never flagged, never doubted that I should live. She has always found my continued living to be a worthwhile project.
That argument conflates life with property (of another).
My life is my property (or perhaps God’s). I can wad it up and toss it if I wish, or God can, or God can stop me.
YOU (or the State), however, have no right to a) wad up my life, b) force me to do so, or c) stop me from doing it.
+1
That’s how I feel.
I believe you are obligated to accept the death God sends you.
I agree completely.
Careful, youre falling for the leftist narrative which reflects their strategy of lets use their beloved US Constitution against their most cherished values.
I hope you dont continue to fall for it because its as stupid as anything else they have up their sleeve. Mostly because they dont understand their own ultimate motives.
The answer is your life belongs to God. Not to you.
You did not create yourself, remember?
