I’m responding to your post 10 where you stated that you were willing to bet that the majority of Catholics break the 6th commandment every day. Note that we are dealing with the sixth, not the ninth.
Are you saying Roman Catholics do not commit adultery....not just the physical act....but lust as defined by Christ?

Lust as defined by Christ falls under the 9th commandment. While the sixth and the ninth are certainly closely related, they are still distinct—already committed adultery with her in his heart is not the same thing as already committed adultery with her with his body.

I never claimed that no Catholics commit adultery, and moreover, I will grant that some where, at any given moment, some of the 1.2 billion Catholics are committing adultery, there is a huge leap between that and the claim that over 600 million Catholics (i.e a majority) commit adultery every day, and an even higher rate on weekends. I’m inclined to guess that your view of reality is warped by close to 2 orders of magnitude—there are a fair number of Catholics who are shacked up or married outside the Church, and I’m inclined to grant simple fornication in your favour.

Well, yes.....it is the same.

27“You have heard that it was said, ‘YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY’; [the commandment we're discussing]

28but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

I never claimed that no Catholics commit adultery,

You claimed it was a minority....I disagree and suggest it is a majority.

Suffice it to say that not everyone, and probably only a minority, of Catholics are actively violating the 6th commandment in a given week,...

...and moreover, I will grant that some where, at any given moment, some of the 1.2 billion Catholics are committing adultery, there is a huge leap between that and the claim that over 600 million Catholics (i.e a majority) commit adultery every day, and an even higher rate on weekends.

If the mere thought of lusting after a woman constitutes adultery, then my estimate is very realistic.....maybe even understated.

My view is based on reality.

Again, you're not understanding the NT Scriptural definition of adultery.

It's not just the physical act that constitutes adultery. The NT is clear on that.

According to Jesus, it is.
