A Half Century of Amnesia (Free Republic cited)
Taki's Magazine ^ | August 1, 2018 | Steve Sailer

Posted on 08/02/2018 4:41:57 AM PDT by Travis McGee

Back during the protracted recount following the 2000 Bush-Gore election, I offered a subversive bit of advice in a VDARE article entitled: “GOP Future Depends on Winning Larger Share of the White Vote.”

Bush’s boy-genius strategist Karl Rove had achieved acclaim by declaring that the only hope for the Republican Party to cope with changing demographics was in enticing Hispanic voters by encouraging even more immigration. Sure, the GOP would lose on each immigrant vote cast, but would make up for it on volume. Or something.

Yet I pointed out that Bush could have won in an Electoral College landslide merely by upping his share of the white vote from 54 percent to 57 percent.

I further noted that the most obvious source of additional white votes were white union families—Reagan Democrats—in states Bush had lost narrowly, such as Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. And one way to appeal to blue-collar whites in the crucial north-central swing states was to be more skeptical of immigration.

Although this turned out to be more or less the winning strategy for Donald Trump sixteen years later, my article was immediately banned from discussion at the mainstream GOP website Free Republic as “divisive” and “promoting racism.” Although a vote cast by a white was still counted, technically speaking, as equal to a vote cast by a nonwhite, as far back as 2000 it was considered by Establishment Republicans to be morally repulsive to appeal to the self-interest of those most likely to swing Republican. What would the Democrats say?

"If you don’t want whites to act like a 21st century American minority group—e.g., racially conscious, bloc voting, biased, prickly, and led by racial racketeers quick to proclaim their group’s victimization—then don’t make whites a minority."

You werent the only one trying to tell them!!

The post Cold War Uniparty in action!

Bush - Bent One - Bush - Soetoro....all gave us the real man in the White House today.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But how can the Democrats build an “excited, diverse coalition” among people who, by definition, don’t really have much in common?
I believe thats called a RIOT.
Well-stated and well-reasoned as usual, Matt.
I have grown weary of feeling bad about being white. It’s become okay for every non-white person to harbor cultural and, dare I say, tribal feelings of disdain for whites or any other race not their own, but a white man positioning himself for self-preservation is considered racist and bigoted and short-sighted and hateful.
More and more, however, I find private discussions reveal a boldness in opinion toward that self-preservation among white friends. It’s not a malicious, hateful want. It’s a critical understanding of one’s place in the world and how we got here. I don’t wish harm or want to see any one person, group, race, or culture fall short. I want all of us to be brought afloat by rising tides. The idea of chaining white people to the bottom of the pool while trying to fill it with tea cups is hilarious at first blush but then terrifying when those of us chained to the drain realize they’re serious in their desires.
Thank you for speaking out on this. I don’t identify myself as Italian or Scottish or German or any of the number of other cultures making up my pedigree. I am white by the identification of my skin pigmentation. Otherwise, I am American. That used to mean something, and I feel it’s starting to again.
IMHO yes, VDARE should not be banned from FR.
It was for sure mainstream GOP when it came to border policy.
We were banned just for supporting the Minuteman movement.
I don’t think FR threads from that area are still searchable.
But many of us remember very clearly being banned for supporting the Minutemen, vs. the “mainstream GOP” / Karl Rovian policy of virtually open borders in order to appeal to Hispanics as the road to GOP electoral success.
Good to hear from you Travis. Every picture I see of someone setting in the cockpit or doing the Captain Morgan on that downed Jap Zero on Pagan Island I just think thats the coolest thing.
My God that’s one of the most potent and real things I’ve read in a long while. I’ve held my tongue out of fear of being labeled racist, but this is well-reasoned and makes a point at which I feel I could never arrive, esp. in the midst of impassioned debate.
Thanks to you, friend. You’ve reinvigorated me.
"...mainstream GOP website Free Republic..."
Hahahahahaha...I got a kick out of that as well.
It could be that we here overall are more representative of the GOP than the GOP wants us to be...or is themselves...and that isn't good for them.
They are out of touch at GOP headquarters, and what's worse, they don't seem to know it. I don't know any Freepers who donate money to the GOP directly, even if they do donate directly to individuals.
I don’t wish harm or want to see any one person, group, race, or culture fall short.
Neither do I, but the reality (and problem) is those other groups, races, and cultures don’t reciprocate your feelings. I would recommend reading about Lee Kuan Yew, who ruled over the multicultural Singapore for 3 decades, and what he learned during that time. See
https://lkyonrace.wordpress.com
Whites are being replaced in their own country, without their consent, since 1965, and there is no political will to discuss this, at a national level. If you want to discuss this, you are called names (racist, xenophobe).
I’ve openly discussed this in mixed company and been met with stares of disbelief while being privately applauded, at least by the whites among them. I’m not afraid to believe these things, but in modern America, it’s frowned upon to voice them.
Humans ARE tribal. Whether we like it or not, we are programmed to being xenophobic. We live in gated communities and strive for conformity while trying to keep out the riff raff. I don’t begrudge other cultural groups for being the same way, but I do dislike being told that I’m not being inclusive.
I’m living my life according to familiarity with cultural norms. I enjoy time spent with people who think the way I do and tolerate those who do not. That doesn’t make me racist or bigoted. It makes me human.
Sailer has done great analytic work, including on race, culture, and IQ. I realize his work makes the cucumber sandwich crowd uncomfortable. But if he is still banned then we are missing out on some solid work worthy of discussion.
