The Zebra, an Austin company that last year raised $40 million and has been backed by Texas billionaire Mark Cuban, has big plans for 2019.
The Zebra says it expects to double its workforce from about 100 employees to 200 by the end of 2019. And next summer, it expects to move into a new 40,000-square-foot set of offices in a newly constructed five-story building at 1801 E. Sixth Street.
This companys growth has come under the leadership of Keith Melnick, who was named CEO of The Zebra last year. Melnick -- one of the founders of the popular travel-reservation site Kayak -- steered The Zebra toward focusing on creating a real-time search engine that shows actual quotes for buying car insurance and scaling that business, rather than expanding to other kinds of insurance, although that option could still be in the companys future....

Zebra is a bait & switch operation masquerading as an insurance-rating site specifically to generate marketing lists for subscribing insurance agents. They use sites like HiYa.com to promote it as non-spamming yet they DO sell your info to any of their subscribers.
You WILL be inundated with phone calls.
Anyone reading this who actually watches and believes any insurance ad is a fool.
Can’t stand Cuban so don’t expect me to buy into this. Moving into east Austin is a definite red flag. Low income, minorities and illegals.
When I was a loan originator in the Bush era I bought mortgage leads because my closing ratio was about 50%. Like printing money.
Works great in auto insurance as well, if you don’t mind chasing your tail for all the cancellations of the very, very poorly rated people always out to save a buck.
Different universe altogether.
