I will not cease from Mental Fight,
Nor shall my Sword sleep in my hand:
Till we have built Jerusalem,
In Englands green & pleasant Land.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!!!

I am not a huge soccer fan but 2 awesome match ups today. Are there any bookies taken bets on whether Suarez will bite someone?

France looked great over Argentina. Uruguay has a great defense but I don’t think that will be enough today.

If Belgium spots Brazil a two goal lead - as they did against Japan - it will be over. OTOH. If they can get ahead of Brazil, the Brazilians May fall apart. I can’t pick - it’s a toss-up.

England and Croatia are the class of that group. They will both win in the quarters. Sweden - nice run, but they will not be able to keep up with the English.

And Russia? Tight tough win over Spain but that is the high point of their World Cup.

For some reason I got into this tho year. Could be 0700MST game times so I can watch at the gym and doing morning email and the like. Then again I got into curling at the olympics last year, big union rugby fan (GO GLENDALE RAPTORS) and learned mahjongg this spring and playing 6 hours a week.

The boy’s coach was ... Oh. doorbell signal to go down. More later...
Doorbell was a signal that the trade was complete and for me to come down with the puppy for an extended walk around the peninsula. I also took a backpack with bananas, chocolate cookies, berry flavored water bottles and scooby snacks/water for Luna. Was a great walk but I have no photos because of course I forgot my camera/phone.

My daughter made a trade for 29 Panini World Cup stickers she needed for the cost of 9 stickers (here are two).

So, this funny Messi story... My daughter got the Messi sticker a few days ago and was really happy because I pointed to his empty box in her sticker-book, told her about Messi and that she needs to get him. Then yesterday my wife and her were registering at the local school. There were people moving about, coming and going, when my daughter pointed and said loudly: "Messi! There is Messi!"

The people in the area all heard this and were seriously looking and asking: "Messi? Where is Messi?"

Then everyone realized she was pointing at the boys soccer coach who has a beard and looks a bit like Messi.

People were then laughing. I was told it was quite funny!

My daughter then told the woman who was registering her she is very nice.
So she made a funny and good first impression. :)

FT France 2-0 Uruguay

That’s what happens when you empty the old folks home to fill the team roster.
And no Cavani.

France through to the semis. A lackluster game but the French survive and advance.

Uruguay is a good side, Berlin_Freeper. I like France too, with lots of firepower. But Uruguay was a bounce or two from tying or winnning that game. You make your own luck, but Loris made a skillfully lucky save at the end of the half and the followup shot was there for the taking. The Greismann goal was a rocket whose blame should fall as much on the defenders watching as on the keeper.

1-1 at half would have made for an interesting game. I like France, but Mbappe had best not follow Neymar in acting school.

With no USMNT in the mix (rightly so), this has been a fun WC to watch simply as a fan of the game. Once Mexico crashed out again dos a cero, I was a happy camper.
