What gets me is that Bill could have simply picked up the phone and called her....chatting for 15 minutes, and accomplished the same thing, without the cameras or being noticed. Instead, he wants the moment to be in the public eye, and discussed by the general public. My question would be ‘why’.

Can’t hand over a bag full of cash and a threatening note over the phone.
They were not supposed to be seen....someone on the detail gave a heads up to the local news who covered it. They were trying to avoid an electronic record of the meeting.

I can only guess they wanted 0 chance what was said to be listened to and recorded by ANYONE. I’m sure you feel the same when discussing grand kids /s
IMO? So Hillary would see him do it, and not have him Fostered.

They did *not* want *any* recording of the meeting. That is why they had to meet in person. It was supposed to be out of the public eye, but someone let it out.
The speculation was that it was a local who was part of the security recruited in Phoenix (i.e. a local cop).
This meeting was *not* supposed to be public.
That is why they had to lie about it.
They both knew Obama had been recording all phone calls. Obama turns out was more paranoid and corrupt than Nixon, press just won't admit it.
If he used a phone then the NSA would have a record of it.
Last week the NSA announced that it has and will be erasing millions of phone records. Some coincidence.
I used to wonder why Bill Clinton simply didn’t telephone Loretta Lynch, but then figured this: there’s no way to explain having accidentally or even impulsively phoned somebody you are not supposed to be talking to at all, and there are records — and possible recordings? — of all phone calls. So...Bubba arranged physically to be someplace Lynch would be so he could claim to have heard at the last minute that Lynch was there and do a “pop in” to say hello and - ahem - chat about their grandchildren. (I think the story was that Bubba was playing golf somewhere nearby that day.) Yes, such a meeting could create a record, but Bubba banked on not getting caught, and figured he’d just lie — as he eventually did - if he did get caught, whereas, he never could have said he had just randomly telephoned Lynch to chat about grandchildren.
Phone could have been tapped. They thought this way was bulletproof.
If that reporter hadn't spilled the beans, no one would have been the wiser.
But now everyone knows that it was a planned meeting and not a random occurrence. So the ruse or smokescreen of them talking about their grandchildren was invented to cover their tracks.
From all appearances though, this was where was the "fix" was put in stopping the investigation into Hillary's emails and to exonerate her.
Because shortly thereafter, Comey came out and said he would not refer it to the DOJ for prosecution because their was no "intent" to break the law by Hillary. And no prosecutor would pursue such a case. Within days after that announcement, Lynch came out and said she was washing her hands of the whole mess and was finished dealing with the "matter".
"Matter" dismissed. Period. End of sentence.
Clinton probably knew any phone call he made to Lynch would have been captured by the intelligence spies in our government and there would be word-for-word evidence of the call.
Meeting Lynch in person was the only way he could keep the conversation between the two private or at least off the record.
