The Lone Star State! Texas has one of the tallest state capitols and taller than the US. It is also larger than any other state capitol.
The pink granite used to build it was mined near me. Sadly, the huge mountain of granite that was supposed to last for hundreds of years has now disappeared with everyone having to have stone kitchen counters only to smash them up a few years later to install new ones.
The Goddess of Liberty raising a lone star stands atop the Capitol dome. Visitors used to be able to go up into the dome, but like most everything now days, you can't now.
Visitors can carry in the Capitol.
The state flower is the Yellow Rose of Texas named for the prostitute who delayed Santa Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto and helped the Texicans win their independence from Mexico. The governor can look out the windows and wave at East Austin where illegals live.
Louisiana is the tallest; Illinois is the tallest dome. Colorado might be the highest. And as to minerals, Georgia is gilded with gold mined in the state (although they had to replace it after Jimmy Carter paid for his presidential run).
