Not sure of your point. I think any business should have the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason. If you refuse service to regular folks, then word will get out and you will likely lose business. In other words, there may (or may not) be a monetary price to pay for refusing service tp certain groups of people....society may judge you harshly (as was the case with Red Hen), but there should not be a legal price. We live in a free country.
Some folks were against the civil rights act in 1960’s. Why? Well, most sane people were happy that the civil rights act prevented the government from discriminating based on race, color, sex...etc. In other words it ended government institutionalized discrimination which was a great thing. But, the part some folks didn’t like was that it compelled privately held businesses to not discriminate as well.
Now, I am not in favor of discrimination of any kind, but if a lesbian woman wants to open up a restaurant to serve exclusively lesbian couples, shouldn’t she have that right? According to the Civil right act, she cannot only allow lesbian women to dine at her restaurant. The Civil Rights act also made Men’s Clubs, Women’s clubs, Black Club’s all illegal because they are all discriminatory. I personally feel that busness should be allowed to say “We only want to do business with men” or “We only want to do business with women.” What’s the big deal and who’s business is it to say otherwise? Look at the BLM protests of a few years ago where restaurants were prohibited by unelected human rights panels in NYC from even kicking out non-paying non-customers who were solely there to harass customers who were eating a meal, regardless of the customers’ politics (that they were white, was sufficient for this harassment).
