Talented, may have meant well, was a man of decency and character — but he picked the wrong cause.

The right to independence and the defense of one's people is not the wrong cause. The wrong cause is sending armies to attack people because you want to control them and their land.

I admire Stonewall Jackson for imparting literacy and the teaching of Scripture to slaves in Sunday school - in secret. Jackson was both a product of his time and yet ahead of his time.

But still, I don’t share any Confederate sympathies. Doesn’t mean the “Unionists” were all angels. But their cause was righteous. And I believe it was in the sight of Almighty God.
