Yes; it’s just the Wade-Giles transliteration of his name instead of the Hanyu Pinyin one.
Time Magazine used Wade-Giles on their 1979 “Man Of The Year” cover and other covers. As soon as Hanyu Pinyin became the transliteration system approved by the CPC, the liberal media stopped using Wade-Giles.
