I am currently suing Jeff Bezos and Amazon. because they really do have, without a doubt, the worst customer service on all known planets. A culture of lying among a confederacy of dunces.
I made the mistake of buying 6-100 dollar amazon gift cards to give out as presents. alas they were stolen out of my car. So I quickly contacted Amazon so the could cancel the gift cards so the thieves wouldn't have time to use them.
What did I get from Amazon's customer service? It was like we were all back in the cold war and I was trying to get information out of Russian agents. Did they help? No. I was treated like the enemy.
They said they'd fix the problem but thwey'd need to see my receipts. Reasonable. So I sent them the receipts. I sent them by email at least 4 times, I faxed them, I ven snail mailed thwem. Nothing. They claimed they never got them. (But I have the receipts of all of these incidentws showing theat they indeed did go through.) I tried to explain to them that time was of the essence but I don't know if they know wat that meant.
So after blatant foot-dragging? incompetence? about a week passed. Then they said they finally got them but would need the 16 digits on the card. That sounded reasonable as well. But this was another lie. The 16 digit card numbers were right there on the receipts right under the bar code. They didn't know that?
Then they suggested I go to the CVS store that sold them to me and try to get them to do something. But th is is utter nonsense. CVS only sells them they don't cancel them. Simply ridiculous.
So let's review Jeff Bezos' crown jewel Amazon, lies about receiving the cards (they were sent at least six times) then they say they don't have the numbers (which are printed right there on the receipts. Then trying to shirk any involvement they send me on a wild goose chase to the store where I bought them.
All you get from this customer service is a lies, ineptitude. They give you platitudes, Like "we snowshoe you feel and we want to help.. It was like they were reading their response from cards in front of them. Total airheads, children.
I have never seen a business so inherently empty-headed and untruthful.
Actually there really isn't any customer service here. They just hire airheads to spout platitudes off of pre-written cards. These are my experiences and opinions, what are yours?
Amazon and Jeff Bezos; utter disgraces to the business world. Pass it on. Maybe it will go viral.
You actually had a drone drop off your package?
I didn’t really believe they were doing that.
How big was the drone?
must have a serious battery in it.
do you think somebody was operating it or autonomous?
Amazon has bent over backwards in my dealings with them. The lesson is don’t leave valuable stuff in your car.
Here was our last Amazon delivery experience as Prime customers. My wife ordered a package and received an email that it would be delivered on Friday. No package. She phoned on Saturday and was advised it would be delivered on Sunday. No package. She phoned on Monday and was told it would be delivered that day. No package. That night our neighbor across the street rang our bell with a package that he said he found at his front door. It was not UPS. It was not USPS. It was delivered via one of the “fly-by-night” so-called delivery services that Amazon has started using. We live in a gated community, and every house has the address posted plainly on the front of the house next to the entry walk.
Always treat gift cards like cash
You aint got a suit
I used to use Amazon prime when I was working because I ordered stuff for work. A couple of times items didn’t arrive within the 2 day delivery time frame and each time they extended my prime membership by a month.
500 million satisfied customers and one who claims he got screwed.
Didn’t you know gift cards are just like cash?
You do now.
Sorry for your loss.
The amazon delivery couple that showed up last week were Haitian or something and could barely speak english. they were very nice but it could be a problem.
If there drivers can’t read english, are stupid and rely on their gps for deliveries amazon might want to not hire them.

It would be a VERY big problem for me——and I do a lot of shopping on Amazon.
.
“It was delivered via one of the fly-by-night so-called delivery services that Amazon has started using. “
One of their delivery services left 3 packages at my house. One for me and one for each of 2 neighbors in the mobile home park I live in. One was a same day delivery to a neighbor who needed it for his job the next day and was very happy I called and let him know I had it.
Back in ‘77, I got back from a two years overseas assignment. My bank (Crocker) has “lost” my account — all $25,000 life savings gone ($100,000 in 2018 dollars). The clerk was useless. The branch manager was useless (”you probably bounced a check”). Went to the library and got the names of the appropriate top execs and the state banking examiner / regulator. Wrote them all polite, detailed letters and named names.
A couple weeks later the branch Manager had changed his tune, was very apologetic and treated me like royalty. I think he was thankful to have been able to keep his job.
I learned that lesson early — don’t my screw around with feeble underlings if you have a serious problem. Go straight to the top.
For this OP’s problem — I don’t think Jeff Bezos is going to step in to solve it.
The foreign couple couldn’t figure out how to scan the package properly and for a week i kept getting sorry your package is late messages from amazon.
I finally called them to tell them i got it, didn’t want the nice illiterates to get in trouble.
They were very friendly but if amazon wants a smooth operation they got to hire better people.
I have stopped buying from amazon.
JoMa
I almost feel guilty about some of the prime items i ordered qhem we lived in BFE ...UPS and fedex guys both told me the shipping charges for the large 100 lb items they pulled off the plane 80 miles from bfe were likely 2x what the item cost
The box the power supply was in was very small and very light so it made sense a drone delivered it.
I was so excited to see the drone delivery by the time I got my phone out and the camera enabled it was too late to get any meaningful video of it. Just damn!!
I couldn't say if it was being operated or autonomous. I'd venture a guess that a simple plug-in of my GPS coordinates would've got it to my home.
........ suing Amazon ........
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
So you need to go look in the mirror and see who the nut-fool is that you should be suing. Giftcards are like cash and should be treated as such.
I would be pretty pissed-off if this happened to me. But how you can spend that much effort trying to argue your (weak) case is really odd.
These are my experiences and opinions, what are yours?
It is more like your experience with one issue, while my experiences with Amazon CS have only been positive, and top of the line, as compared with Walmart and Ebay, two other main online sources. Their early white van delivery people could be rather sketchy though.
Walmart is usually cheaper for the same items than Amazon, but are often out of stock and do not have the variety, or have 3rd party sellers whose shipping it too high. Ebay is good for hard-to-find auto parts, or things like cheap watches, reading watches, etc.

Rather, one reason Amazon has the majority of online transactions because it has very good CS, unless you abuse it. I wish they all were closed on the Lord's day, but we can only wish the government, local to federal, had CS as good as Amazons.
I caught one parked a few feet from our front door, with a door bell and note telling deliveries to ring the bell, but the driver went 70' into the rear were some bicycles were parked. Suspicious? But the post office has delivered to the wrong persons in the wrong building, and also lost (tracked to another city and gone) about 80.00 of auto parts, which Amazon made good on nonetheless. Thanks be to God.
I got a gift card for X-mas. When I went to use it it had no money on it. Always check the card at the register before you leave!! I don’t buy gift cards from anywhere!!!
Completely agree. One must be very careful when purchasing anything but books from Amazon. I don't know how the scammers get away with it.
I made a mistake on a gift card and spoke on live chat with Amazon staffperson, who handed it professionally and quickly and in a friendly, intelligent manner.
