I think every place should allow a person to go to the bathroom. Such a strange issue to be against. United States is the worst at providing public restrooms so businesses should. And no penalty if someone pisses in some bushes. We have ridiculous laws for such a natural mandatory function. Good for Starbucks. For every druggy, there are thousands of normal people who have to simply go to the bathroom. Such a no brainer.

As someone who goes to the bathroom somewhat more frequently with the passage of years, I see the point to this argument. But, unless free bathrooms are customary, some provided by the government (as in parks or libraries) and some provided by private entities (like department stores or supermarkets), you are going to have problems of cleanliness and abuse. Big city libraries come to mind. And, soon, Starbucks.

The Euro solution has been pay toilets--pay to pee. It annoyed me at first, but I'm convinced that the alternative is stinky bathrooms unless a lot of resources are devoted to continued cleaning and policing.
