From the prosecutor's side, a grand jury proceeding is supposed to be conducted in secret.

Sessions gave a big hint to Congress about what's going on a while back when he revealed that U.S. Attorney Huber (Utah) is overseeing a team of DOJ officials looking into these matters, but if he comes right out and says A, B and C are all the subject of a criminal investigation then he runs the risk of jeopardizing any cases that are later prosecuted.

I'm not sitting here and claiming the DOJ leadership is a group of honest and upstanding people (I don't know for sure what the case is, either way). I'm simply pointing out that the approach they've taken may very well be the most prudent and reasonable one, depending on the circumstances.

All that needs be said is that there is, or are as the case may be, Grand Juries empaneled. He need not, and should not, divulge exactlywho or what is being examined.

“I’m sorry, Congressman, but there’s a Grand Jury looking into that matter right now. Therefore I’m unable to provide any more details at this time.”

That would be sufficient I think.

Then here's what happens ...

Democrats start leaking stories to the media -- even fabricated ones that aren't even close to being true -- that allegedly come from grand jury testimony. Then they start accusing the DOJ, Trump and the GOP leadership in Congress of leaking these proceedings to the media. The GOP then spends the next six months dealing with endless accusations like this right in the middle of the 2018 campaign season.

Better to just leave everything simmering at a low boil until circumstances change.

This is serious stuff. Trump needs to speak from the Oval Office right after the Horowitz Report is released and explain the key points of the report to nation. And then, lay out the steps he will take to cleanse our federal agencies of the layers of corrosive corruption that has infected them.

The cabal must be exposed and removed from their positions of trust.

Nothing could be more important than restoring confidence in our government and protecting our democracy. This should be one of Trump’s highest priorities at this time.
