Over the past several years, the Social Justice Warrior movement has swelled to become a formidable beast in the US. Anyone who does not follow their strict doctrine is lambasted with terms such as fascist, racist, mansplainer, deplorable and an abundance of other dehumanizing insults. SJWs have corrupted academia, the media and politics. However, this isnt the first time America has had to deal with such a corrosive ideology.
The wave of Evangelicals that came during the last part of last century was (and still partially is) extremely similar to the SJW movement. Just to be clear, being a believer of Christianity doesnt make you an Evangelical; just as believing in justice doesnt make you a Social Justice Warrior. These two groups specifically represent the extremes of our society and are dominated by puritanical thinking and authoritarianism. Below are the most striking similarities between these two troublesome groups.

Social justice warriors are liberal authoritarians. They have the strict black/white morality more often associated with religious extremists, the “for us or against us, we’re moral and everyone else is evil”.
Liberal authoritarians use the same language of care and empathy of classic liberals and share the same high degree of trait openness.
Some of them add back purity/sanctity, applying new standards of moral/evil to food and dress. That you can’t wear this, say this, eat that, it is evil blasphemy.
They ignore the sexual purity/sanctity rules conservatives adhere to, in fact saying too often now that you’re evil if you apply any boundaries to sex. That it is wrong to be monogamous with someone, to not have sex with someone officially less privileged as you.
Ironically, these liberal bullies have adopted theoretically non-aggressive social punishments the Puritans employed. Shaming, shunning, public humiliation and calling it a healing ceremony.
Hate speech laws are the new blasphemy laws, that to say what liberals disagree with is only based on hate so can be banned as hate speech. They use the same logic as Muslims executing atheists and “reverts”, that to criticize Mohamed, the Koran or Islam in general is equal to an attack on all believers so you can kill them.
I try to stay off the religion threadsmore heat than light from what Ive seen. The funny thing is often the people you agree with become your worst enemies. God is goodpeople are wonderfully maddening.

Well as a simple Christian rather then an Evangelical, my experience has been this.
Zealot Evangelicals are the exception, not the rule. SJW and Zealotry is synonymous. There are no non zealot SJWS.
Although conservatives tend to be wiser in their investments than the average consumer, we have noticed something. If we splatter our pages with red meat conservative histrionics, then we can trickle in a bit of bad investment advice. This advice may harm the conservative consumer, but it will generate windfall profits for us. Which is just plain good ole' American Free Market thinking.
I agree as far as the Christian part goes, but I cant say as far as SJWs. I guess Id say all SJWs are zealots, but not all liberals are SJWs. Ive found many are rather shocked when they are confronted by a conservative who is nothing like the bogey man theyve imagined all their lives.
It may be that I dont fit their stereotypesexcept for the white, Christian, heterosexual male married 32 years part. My family is huge and diverse (half my kids are definitely of a darker complexion) and I love my family, my country my God, and real people. Ive been poor and rich, lived all over in all kinds of circumstances, worked hard and have a wonderful life. God has blessed us richly, and seen us through more trials than the Supreme Court.
I work with some progressives and they never give me any problem. Then again, I probably give them a bit of that crazy uncle vibe. My wife says I need to work on filtering whatever that is! I figure its a bit late for me.
Unbelievably offensive. It’s clear he doesn’t know any Evangelical Christians.
