I’m convinced that “New Coke” was merely a cover for the transition of “the real thing” from cane sugar to fructose corn syrup. While everyone pitched a fit over New Coke and how awful/different it tasted, their palettes were being cleansed so they didn’t notice the switch to corn syrup when “Classic” was brought out. Coca-Cola made with cane sugar is still available as an import from Mexico.

Someone surely can analyze the Coke recipe and make a drink called "Kooka-Koola" made with cane sugar. Instant hit. Do the same for "Popsee."
