Actually, the Iranians have been planning the war for some years now. It was when they began to upgrade existing missile stock piles in Syria and increase shipments of more missiles that Israel struck.
The Iranian political victory in Lebanon a few days ago was one of the last pieces needed by Iran to take out Israel and completed its overland route to the Med as well as insuring the route for the Iranian oil pipeline to the Med. (Iran now controls most of Syria and jointly with Russia on the coast, Lebanon/Hezbollah and Hamas.)
DJT’s actions were not relevant to the Iranian plans already in motion, but formed one more excuse to proceed on schedule.
