They call everything in genus Homo “humans” these days. It just used to be just our own species, Homo sapiens. I guess you can’t get clicks these days without confusing people. They found a Homo erectus fossil.

Well, Latin humanus is an adjective formed from the noun homo, "human being." So why shouldn't any creature who belongs to the genus Homo be considered human?
