If a political stance is grounds for being refused public accommodation at a restaurant or a bar, is it also okay to refuse to hire or to rent housing to somebody whose politics offend the owner?

According to Lurking Libertarian, that’s exactly what they can do. LL is saying that there was a case in New York several years ago held that it was legal for a landlord to refuse to rent to lawyers.
