Those are actually weaknesses. We lent huge sums to Latin America. They stopped paying. Did their world end? Nope.

And the Chinese have to buy their way in. Whereas plenty of countries just invite our troops in. Because nobody, but nobody, trusts China enough to host their troops. We have no designs on anyone’s territory. China is a whole nother story.

The real worry is China’s fairly large military expenditures and the raft of new military equipment that has followed decades of increased spending. Its capabilities are catching up to its ambitions.
