I lived in Spfld Mo for 13 years and became a radar freak. I’m out of the alley now but still look at the radar when I hear “scattered showers.” We were there for two towns being obliterated. GW came to visit one of the towns. Our house was 10 miles away and debris floated into our yard. Moved out in 2010, one year before Joplin got hit. I’m a basement hugger. Took a couple of years to get used to sirens meaning fire instead of twister.

Irony of it all is that when I was 15 my mom and us kids were in a tent in Wildwood NJ one night. I got sick (I never get sick) and was up when a string of storms went over. I just started praying. My mom was up by then and after what sounded like a train passing by all got quiet and we went to sleep. The next morning on the way to the beach we saw the twister had lifted just outside the campground by the looks of the trail damage.

When I wake up in the middle of the night I’ve gotten into the habit of praying. :)

Yes, prayer is a necessity.

But, you know what I like to do? I have only done it a couple of times. When the weather in the Dallas area is questionable and we have lots of straight line winds (but no tornadoes in sight) I like to watch "Twister." Talk about surround sound. People think I'm nuts but I'm not. My mother had me tested.
