The Taurus version is a better gun at much reduced cost. Beretta putting the safety on the slide was a mistake Taurus corrected. ... You can accidentally place the Beretta on safe when grabbing the back of the slide to jack a round.
My first Beretta model 92 had the safety just like a 1911. That is the model which was licensed to Brazil. I liked it but there are safety benefits with the hammer drop.
Taurus did not improve anything. That is the way it was originally made. Those early Beretta’s also had the mag release on the lower left side of the grip. I liked it perfectly well but Americans like the current style.
