Everything went fine when the police were there, but then the police left.
An enormous African got in my GF’s face and called her a blue eyed devil who needed to die. That accurately captures the overall tenor of the crowd. They wanted to kill us. It was overt.
Crazily, the other folks looked to me to protect them. There were old people and tiny Viet ladies. I said “Let’s GTFO”, and we did, and lived to see another day.
My GF was interviewed on TV. Her money quote was “People say war isn’t the answer. Some people don’t realize that sometimes war IS the answer.” (!)
That’s Texas common sense right there, and yeah, I married her, and she provided me with 3 adorable little human excretions!
Grrr. I live in a blue state, and I see the "War is not the ANSWER" bumper stickers all the time. It pisses me off.
War is never a good answer. But as your GF infers, it is sometimes the RIGHT answer, even if it isn't good.
