They allow for deadly force in defense of property, if the offense occurs at night.Of course the family of such a individual would,if he was "of color",demand prosecution in the Federal courts.And would also file a lawsuit in a Federal court.

I have not seen it happen.
In Texas all potential self-defense homicides are sent to a grand jury for indictment.
The grand jury almost always “no bills” such situaitons. That is they find there is insufficient evidence of a crime to prosecute the individual who shoots in self-defense.
