House Intelligence Committee member Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) leveled a serious allegation at former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. Jordan alleged that Clapper leaked classified information about the Trump-Russia investigation to CNN. Clapper later became a CNN contributor. I recently wrote a column about how Clapper ran out a statute of limitations for allegedly lying in testimony to Congress.
Here is the statement on Fox News:
REP. JIM JORDAN (R-OH): We learned two key things from the Republicans on the intelligence committee — their report. The first is they told us something we already know, namely, there was no coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia to influence the election. The second thing they told us is something that we suspected, now they’ve confirmed, which is that Clapper actually was the guy leaking information.
Specifically leaking information I believe, from that January 6th meeting where they briefed President Trump, then President-elect Trump on the dossier. Someone at CNN got information. We think it was Mr. Clapper who gave it to them. And then a few days later Buzzfeed prints the entire dossier.
So those in my mind were the two key takeaways. No coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia and Mr. Clapper was leaking information. Here is one of the top intelligence people in the government at the time, leaking information to the press…
. . . hey took an opposition research document and dressed it all up, made it look like legit intelligence and took it to the FISA court to get a warrant to spy on a fellow American citizen. And the guy who leaked information about that dossier is James Clapper.
If the allegation is true, Clapper would have run out the clock on one alleged crime only to face a new allegation. If it is not true, Clapper could have a defamation case. The Speech and Debate Clause does not afford members immunity for statements made outside of Congress. This is clearly a statement of fact and not simply opinion.
As previously discussed, former FBI Director James Comey has been alleged to have removed and disclosed classified information from the FBI. Obviously, there is also an analogy to the current controversy surrounding Andrew McCabe.
The allegation could also put a spotlight on when Clapper was first approached about a contract with CNN. The allegation could not be more serious. However, Clapper appeared this morning on CNN was not asked a single question about the allegation from a member of the House Intelligence Committee.

Newly-revealed documents obtained by conservative watchdog Judicial Watch reveal that the Obama State Dept
allowed Secy of State Hillary Clinton and her top aide Huma Abedin to remove sensitive documents
that were not to be made public records (including official “Muslim Engagement Documents”).
Judicial Watch received the records on Thursday in response to a FOIA request that sought all DS-1904 forms completed by or on behalf of Former Secy Hillary Clinton, Former Chief of Staff Cheryl Mills, Former Deputy Chief of Staff Huma Abedin, and Former Deputy Chief of Staff Jacob Sullivan.
Clinton and Abedin were permitted to remove both electronic and physical records, claiming “they were ‘personal’ materials and ‘unclassified, non-record materials,’ including files of Clinton’s calls and schedules, which were not to be made public.”
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton noted the gravity of the latest revelations, stating they showed further corruption in the Obama administration and with Clinton. “We already know the Obama State Department let Hillary Clinton steal and then delete her government emails, which included classified information,” Fitton said in a statement. “But these new records show that was only part of the scandal. These new documents show the Obama State Department had a deal with Hillary Clinton to hide her calls logs and schedules, which would be contrary to FOIA and other laws.”

Non-record copy of a log of calls the Secretary made since 2004.
Official and personal copy of the Secretary’s “call grid” which is a running list of calls she wants to make. Physical records Clinton was allowed to remove: 16 boxes of personal schedules from 1993-2008 (prior to her becoming Secretary of State). 29 boxes of miscellaneous public schedules ranging from her time as FLOTUS all the way up to her appointment at the State Department.

Enough with the “serious charges.” I know that none of my friends pay any attention anymore, and I’m close to shutting down myself. If the Republicans think they are gaining momentum for the elections with all the talk, talk, talk, they are sorely mistaken. In fact, this kind of gibberish, in the light of clear perjury to Congress, is counter-productive.

Sessions, dragging his feet in appointing a Special Prosecutor, for example, has given months and months of cover to Hillary Clinton, by running out the clock on re-opening Benghazi, and much of her pay-to-play financial exchanges, inside her husband’s various foundations, and initiatives, etc.
Republicans fail to address the pace of investigations, because of course running out the clock on SoL benefits them as well.
