Forgive my rudeness, but no, hell no.

To tag a specific serial numbered gun to a perpetrator would mean the gun would have to be registered in order for the number to match up to a person.

Now a criminal will not register a gun, so this law is stupid even if it’s possible to imprint all that data on a spent cartridge.

I can think of a whole host of problems, false arrests and convictions being one of them that could arise from such a dumba$$ law.

This is a clear infringement on the 2A.

I guess I didn’t think about the registration part. I was looking at it from a “clean” crime....where the police find the gun on the person who shot a person. They are the vast majority of murders. This whole “stealing a gun” to shoot someone is very rare unless it is a family member and the gun is in the house.
