This got a lot of airplay in the spring of 1979. The singer, Bobby "So Fine" Butler said he was selling the record to motorists waiting in long lines at gas stations as a result of the fuel shortage caused by the Islamic revolution in Iran.

Amongst many of these great songs, we had Convention 72 in our jukebox. Hilarious that most of the sampled songs I knew only from that!

Didn’t quite get there, upchuck.
You have to end up with 2 songs, 1 from each pair! You put down the first pair.

OH NO! ANOTHER TIE-BREAKER MINI-ROUND IS NEEDED!
Never thought it would happen this late in a contest.
“AMERICAN PIE” is the run-away winner of one semi-final. It beat “Joy to the World” handily.
However, “Rhinestone Cowboy” has been keeping pace with “Stayin’ Alive”, and so we must again try to break this tie.
Maybe you’ll change your mind? Or maybe someone else will vote who didn’t chime in before. Let’s try to break this. If not, it’s my choice after that!
******RUN-OFF on ROUND 6*****
Please vote for 1 of these 2 songs, due MONDAY, Feb 26 @ 7:00pm Eastern:
“Rhinestone Cowboy” by Glen Campbell
vs
“Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees

Hmm, I’ll stick with Stayin’ Alive, it’s just so iconic.
But I do love Glen Campbell.
