While I agree that the need to synthesize vitamin D is a crucial adaptation for Europeans, the biggest driver behind the evolution of European creative genius and planning is the very harsh fact that in Europe you have 4 to 5 months to prepare for 7 to 8 months of starvation in winter. For hundreds of generations many fools died every winter.
Well, you could very well have a point there. No one said evolutionary adaption couldnt include the brain.
Genetic bottlenecks do tend to weed out the stupid, so populations that have been subjected to harsh situations would tend to gain intelligence as a group over a long period of time whereas populations that have not been subjected to harsh situations would not, there’s nothing external to weed out the stupid.
Yup. My wife, as wonderful as she is, is from a warmer climate w/ year-round growing season, and on a very fundamental level does not understand why I plan and conserve the way I do. “God takes care of even the flowers and birds” doesn’t cut it in, say, Germany, esp. during a mini Ice Age.
