Yeah I know the potential side effects..basically all of those acid reflux medications have side effects and can cause harm to the kidneys, liver, etc..its better than getting Barretts..which my brother was recently diagnosed with(Caught it early stage) he had NO symptoms, for me I have constant stomach burn/pain and the doc did the endoscopy and found nothing..so he said its better to have a lot of pain and find nothing than have NO pain and be a ticking time bomb
One of my doctors told me those studies are not correct. YMMV
My last endoscopy showed my Barretts was smaller. I didn’t even know that could happen. Just get regular blood tests. They did put me on a B12 supplement. I highly recommend!
After two hospitalizations, they said they'd recommend exploratory surgery to run the bowel if I continue to have problems. I'm really not a clear liquid diet type of guy, so I wasn't looking forward to being cut open that way.
Hence the baking soda...
Thirty-five+ years later, baking soda is still the goto solution.
And no surgery.
However, on the maternal side, two diagnosis of diverticulitis. Maybe one surgery.
