here are some pointers that residents can follow in case of an encounter:
Remain standing upright
-Speak to the bear in a calm, assertive voice....like this....?
Holy “@#$*&()^%$ get the *&&%$#@$^&* out of here you &@#^%!+”
I've had quite a number of NBEs (Near Bear experiences). I'm to the point that I get ANGRY when I round the corner of my house and one is standing there. Normally, they hear me or flee the moment they see me. About 10 years ago, I was walking past the front corner of my house and a 500+ pound bear was not 5 feet from me to my left. If you know these bears, you realize the big fat males are lazy and don't really get too excited by much.
Anyway, I stopped, looked at him, raised my Arms "GET THE FLYING F#$K OUT OF HERE, YOU PIECE OF S#$t!!!" He didn't move, just clacked his teeth. It sent chills down my spine. I started to crouch Like I was going to leap, saying "MOVE IT YOU @#$". He turned slowly and walked away. My heart didn't slow for a good 20 minutes. heh.
