Frampton “Do you feel like we do” is missing.

The 45 release barely charted. This is based on Billboard rankings. You won’t see Born to Run or Stairway to Heaven, either. Show Me the Way was the first release off of Frampton Comes Alive, anyway.

Oh Eddie. Frampton was SO BAD. I used to rag on my friends that thought he was super ginchy. Boooo Frampton and his simpleton lyrics.

I want you oo ooooo

To show me the way....

Everyday.

Everyday? Really???

Misheard Lyrics:

My eye's in Georgia!
Though I never laid a hand on you, my eye's in Georgia!

I already counted your votes upthread - and it seems you’ve changed your mind? Too late, I guess!

Ok, I know we have rules. I like rules. I’m the kind of person who operates well with rules.

However, I wish we could have an “Alt Best Music of the 70’s” contest.

It was a little before my time, but was this not one on the best?

Truckin', like the do-dah man.
Once told me "You've got to play your hand"
Sometimes your cards ain't worth a dime,
if you don't lay'em down,

Sometimes the light's all shinin' on me,
Other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me what a long, strange trip it's been.

TOURNAMENT OF CHART-TOPPERS 1970S PING LIST
(This is a temporary ping list, so don’t worry!)

ROUND 4 WINNERS (rank/year/title/act):

2 1971 “Maggie May” Rod Stewart
1 1971 “Joy to the World” Three Dog Night
3 1972 “American Pie” Don McLean
2 1973 “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown” Jim Croce
2 1975 “Rhinestone Cowboy” Glen Campbell
5 1976 “Play That Funky Music” Wild Cherry
4 1978 “Stayin’ Alive” Bee Gees
1 1979 “My Sharona” The Knack

Thankfully, we avoided a run-off (or two) this time! Just barely!

Interesting tidbits:
-MOST VOTES - “American Pie”
-FEWEST VOTES - “Crocodile Rock” (I guess that just stands to reason)
-ALL songs got some votes; no zeroes
-All but 2 pairs were pretty clear run-aways; almost had to call a run-off but a few more answered the call and broke any doubt. Those were “Bridge” vs. “Maggie” and “Sharona” vs “How Deep is your Love”.
