... Besides this being the first time the Heritage Team has done this at the Super Bowl, theres an interesting mix of aircraft flying over U.S. Bank Stadium.
There are four planes representing three generations of aircraft for the flyover: one F-16, two A-10s and a P-51 (more about the planes themselves below). Theyll be flying in a diamond formation with the P-51 out in front, the two A-10s even with each other on the side and the F-16 bringing up the rear.
Its a really unique formation to take a look at, because you never really get to see those vintage aircraft flying with modern fighters, Levy said.
The heritage formation is unique. Its usually just four modern day fighters that are all similar operating a similar speeds and used to doing a flyover together, Maj. John Waters, the F-16 pilot, said.
Its a sign of strength and unity and the sacrifices that have been made. And the cool factor is off the chart. Its a very special event, Hinton said.

What a waste its a enclosed stadium silly stupid
Great concept.
Sad that the USAF is being used to support the kneelers.
Why is this being done at all anymore? A waste of taxpayer money to honor a dishonorable enterprise.
I have no idea when to turn on the TV to catch this type of thing——I would love to see the flyover.
(I am not a football fan)
.
Gee. It’ll be on the video screens ...
whoop. dee. do.
F-16s are already flying top cover today for the event.
During the Anthem
ummmm.... the TV audience is 100+ million, so it’s for them
in the stadium they can see/hear it on big screens
Thank you.
.
It’s unique because there’s one and only one super bowl 52.
It’s also s bit anti-climatic because the stadium’s covered - albeit with semi-transparent material.
Who are they? Not clicking the blog to find out.
Who is going to see it in a domed stadium? They'll probably show it on the jumbotron.
Having said that, it would be cool to see, especially with the Mustang in front and the Viper in the rear.
The most unique part is that it will be the first time that all 4 pilots will be giving the teams below the finger simultaneously.
Wait for it on YouTube.....
I love the P-51 !!!!!
I have been to several air shows with many historic aircraft maintained and operated by the CAF (Commemorative Air Force). Highly recommended to all:

They should have a B-52 flyover...
They could have done it down south where the weather is nice and shown it on the same screens.
Still not interested.
And the P-51 is faster than the A-10 IIRC ;-)
