Its not that weird an idea.
I believe it was Chesterton that called communism (of at least an idealized sort) a Christian heresy. I.e., pure altruism without God.

Nothing altruistic about abolishing the family, private property, religion and national borders. That is what communism is actually about.
Not to mention, Lenins USSR was the first political entity in the 20th century to introduce abortion on demand and legalize homosexuality. Altruistic?

Very much. Communism is a perversion of Christianity in large part with the emphasis on perversion.
