Its just the Democrap media lying to the American people again. They dont want you to know the facts.
>some fake news services couldnt resist trying to turn this seemingly non-controversial story into click-bait.<
Click bait?
Now you’ve done it. The mere mention of click bait will bring out all of the pests.
5,4,3,2,1.. Ta Daaa!
And the judge said, Because you have degenerated into a menace to society, it is the judgement of this court that you shall be downed at dawn. Bailiff! Remove its limbs at once!
Ah, well.
Jocularity, jocularity, as the good Fr. Mulcahey would say.
What caused you to excerpt your own material?
Why not post the whole thing?
The normal life-span of a magnolia tree is 80-120 years.
This one would have been dead and gone long ago if extraordinary measures had not been taken to keep it alive.
Wow! CNN accidentally told the truth, or accidentally forgot to twist the knife.
Another report stated that gardeners at the White House have been preparing for this eventuality by using cuttings to make new magnolia trees to plant when the current one dies. So there are saplings ready to be planted.
Another misleading response.... (Thanks for the post.)

Anyone who is unlucky enough to have a magnolia tree anywhere on their property can tell you they create a nasty, unsightly mess on the ground which necessitates constant cleaning up. Really nothing pretty about them. I’m waiting for one here to die but I’ll go before that tree does.
Washington DC is full of giant, beautiful magnolias. When in full bloom, they add some charm to what is otherwise a pretty bleak landscape. But I have had them in my various yards in my life, and there is nothing more tedious to clean up after than a shedding magnolia tree.
Like clockwork.
That’s good planning.
He was a little slowt by about 5 minutes or so, but...like clockwork.
...or maybe planting...
Being transplants from CA to GA I never had any experience with magnolias. Found out fast tho’ what a pain they can be....
When traveling around here I was amazed at the size of some of them only to discover that people never pruned/trimmed them and what looked like one gigantic tree would be 3 or 4 all growing together. I will admit that seeing what appears to be one humungous tree is pretty...just very glad not in my yard!
I need to say I prefer the Japanese Cherry Trees in DC to the magnolias...They bloom and please a lot of people with their beauty and then they go back to being just trees again - without a mess to clean up!
Yes, DC is a beautiful city in the spring, when the cherry trees are in full blossom. Lots of pear trees there as well. But man, it is one bleak town in the winter.
In the olden days a slow news day was called a “Dead cat day”. You throw a dead cat in front of a politician and report on his reaction.
