Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D - Enron) is entitled to the privileges of her position. Like discriminating against the disabled and other people's airline seats.
A judge has refused to dismiss a federal lawsuit accusing Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of discriminating against and mocking a disabled staffer charges the Texas Democrat denies.
Mrs. Jackson Lees legal team sought to have the complaint dismissed, arguing in part that actions concerning her staff are protected under the Speech or Debate clause of the Constitution. In a lengthy ruling, the judge disagreed.
And as a civil rights hero and freed slave, she is entitled to other people's airline seats. If they disagree, they're racists.
A passenger on a flight from Houston to Washington D.C. has accused United Airlines of giving her first-class seat to U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee. D-Houston, and then threatening to remove her from the plane for complaining and snapping a photo of the Houston congresswoman.
"It was just so completely humiliating," said Jean-Marie Simon, a 63-year-old attorney and private school teacher who used 140,000 miles on Dec. 3 to purchase the first-class tickets to take her from Washington D.C. to Guatemala and back home.
Of course this had to happen on United.
Her seat, 1A, was taken, she was told. Simon was given a $500 voucher and reseated in row 11, Economy Plus.
United Airlines. We hate you and it shows.
Simon said she saw Jackson Lee board the plane with a flight attendant before all of the other passengers, but did not know who she was until another passenger told her after they were seated.
About five minutes after Simon took the photo on the plane, Simon said, another flight attendant sat next her and asked if she "was going to be a problem."
That's the cue for United's complimentary in-flight 'knocking your teeth out' service.
The airline announced policy changes after that incident and its CEO, Oscar Munoz, has promised a "culture shift toward becoming a better, more customer-focused airline."
By 'customer focused', he meant Congress Focused. It's the government, not its customers, whom United fears.
Anyway, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee has a kind statement to make.
"Since this was not any fault of mine, the way the individual continued to act appeared to be, upon reflection, because I was an African American woman, seemingly an easy target along with the African American flight attendant who was very, very nice," Jackson Lee said in the statement. "This saddens me, especially at this time of year given all of the things we have to work on to help people. But in the spirit of this season and out of the sincerity of my heart, if it is perceived that I had anything to do with this, I am kind enough to simply say sorry."
In the spirit of the season, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee is kind enough to accuse the woman whose seat she stole of being a racist. And then to tack on an apology for nothing on the end while praising her own kindness.
Truly, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee embodies all that is noblest about the CBC.

It would be curious to ask how United was contacted by Rep Lee for the late seat placement, and if they have a special number or office that handles these situations with the VIPs.
Very few people realize it, but there is a special parking lot around Reagan Int’l for the Congressional crowd. They can just pull in, park, and jump on a flight out of the airport.
African American woman Rosa Parks is kicked out of her bus seat and arrested. After she complains, Police call her racist.
***Fox News Alert***
I WILL give a report in a couple of months
Shelia Jackson Lee’s 14th Amendment citizenship unnaturalized the country. Congress only citizenship power was keeping USA the same natural kind.
stopped flying united when they waited for a flight attendant on CP time, causing us to miss our connecting flight.
Also got bad advice from their counter resulting in a sleepover at Ft. Lauderdale.
Delta all the way.
United should also credit that woman back her 140,000 frequent flyer miles for bumping her out of her first class seat and giving it to the royal jackass.
Looks like United needs some more targeted social media and other punishment to hurt their bottom line. They won’t start treating people better until they get hurt financially.
Looks to me like they refunded her the first class ticket for what it would cost to fly that last segment and let her fly for free in economy. It is probably a fair economic transaction, but not a very bright one by United.
Did you notice Simon was returning from Guatemala the day before it moved its embassy to Jerusalem. She could have been a Trump back channel.
Did not catch that. Trump’s high level business skills are redefining the presidency.
” . . . because I was an African American woman, seemingly an easy target along with the African American flight attendant who was very, very nice . . .”
So much for a “color-blind society,” huh?
They have her a voucher for future fight. No cost to them and she’s stuck on the airline that treated her like crap in the first place.
Just call he a water buffalo.
Sheila added: This rude lady should be thankful that United didnt drag her racist butt down the aisle and off of the plane! In the spirit of the season, we just bumped her can, before boarding began.
United is doing a fine job of destroying their image in recent times.
And a post on that web site which fits the occasion well:
“There should be some kind of a misdemeanor category hate crime for when anyone with political power calls someone a racist for objecting to the politically powerful’s privilege. People should be free in America to object to the rich and powerful’s privilege without being called hateful names for daring to do so....”
The first thing out of their mouths are denials and finger pointing with the racist label firmly planted on anyone who intrudes on their self-perceived privilege. Disgusting and belittles the idea in the minds of the majority of people when “racism” is the go-to accusation of all those in positions of power or influence.
Missed the voucher part. Looks like some United ticketing supervisors and agents are just dumber than door knobs.
Of course she does. So what else is new and ultimately who gives a crap?
